Eastern Gray Squirrel in springtime feasting on Red Maple blossoms
On November 12, 2017, I heard a strange call from a nearby woods. It sounded like a series of thirty or so sharp duck quacks followed by the screech of a hawk: "quack-quack-quack-quack.... squeeeee." Eventually, I found the source - a gray squirrel. This is it's distress call, though I couldn't determine what it was bothered about.
